Terminator Salvation

Review

Let me cut right to the chase, after I left the theater ,after seeing Terminator Salvation, I left feeling like I was left out of the loop. So many unanswered questions that it leaves you begging for more, in a bad way I mean.
The movie starts off with Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) sitting on death row in 2003. Dr. Serena Kogan of Cyberdyne Systems convinces Marcus to

sign his body over to science for researching after his execution. Fast forwarding to the year 2018, Skynet, an atificial intellegence that was designed for the "United States Armed Forces" to run and operate the "Global Digital Defense Network", has become self aware and now considers Humans a threat to its extistance. After a few years of a nuclear holocaust, what is left of the humans have joined together and formed a secret society call "The Rsistance" and rage, what seems like, an ever lasting war. John Connor (Played by Batman, oh wait, it says Christian Bale but a blind man would say Batman) is assigned to infiltrate a Skynet research center and extract a “package”. Before I continue, fans will be confused to find that John Conner is not the leader of the resistance and that he takes orders from a higher command. They also find the blue prints to the T-800 (think of Arnold Schwarzenegger). John Conner soon realizes that the object they were after for was a secret radio wave that controls the machines and that Skynet plans to assassinate all of the resistance's leaders and officers, including Kyle Reese. And so the Resistance is planning a counter assault on Skynet. But we soon find Marcus Wright crawling out of the researcher center all confused wondering what the hell happened and why he is now alive. He makes his way to L.A. and meets up with Kyle Reese.
During the travels of Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) and Marcus to seek out the resistance and to enlist, the machines catch up and capture Kyle. Marcus seeks out john Connor and informs him that the machines are capturing human beings, along with Kyle Reese, and that he needs help rescuing Kyle. But command is launching an assault on the skynet base. John Connor must disobey all orders, in order to save his life, the present, and the future.
If you are new to the series, or have never seen the movies before hand, im afraid that you will find yourself lost and questioning to yourself why John Connor is obsessed with finding Kyle Reese. But back to the movie, this movie had a lot of opportunities to be such an excellent movie but instead, Director McG (who the heck puts their initials on the opening credits?) took the series into his imagination and kind of screwed it up for the rest of the fans. I was defiantly hoping this to be the last movie in the series and that it was going to wrap the story up in a nice way so that it will leave anxious fans to rest, knowing that the humans won the war and that John Connor is that bad ass we all portrayed him to be. Boy did they screw up our order. Instead, McG focused on all the adrenaline pumping car chase scenes, big robots, and plenty of explosions to get the little kids jumping from their seats. But the cinematography was well performed on his part. Though the entirety of the movie was gloomy, dark, fast, epic, tragic, and VERY Entertaining to watch, that doesn't discredit the fact that the script had used just about every cool line from the 3 previous movies (How cliché), the story was very predictable, and kind of dumb.
On the other hand, the character, Marcus Wright, was executed well by Sam Worthington and deserves some kudos. But looking over to Christian Bale, I think he should have stay with being Batman or it’s the fact he was playing batman for too long and mixed the two characters together by accident. I mean seriously, if you were to have John Conner in a Batman suit, the movie wouldn't have been any different. If you want my opinion, the movie would have been better if the Sam and Christian traded roles.

But for you special effects fanatics, such as myself, you are going to enjoy what this movie has to offer when it comes to action and post-apocalyptic scenarios. It’s great to watch and its very pretty looking, and the CGI Machines were great.
But when it comes to judging the movie after walking out of the theaters, many terminator fans will leave, weeping because nothing was accomplished, plot wise, and the near future forecasts a sequel with a chance of more disappointment. (But you Schwarzenegger fans, keep your eyes peeled in this movie.) But I believe in second chances (Wink Wink) and I will defiantly see the next movie just because I've always wanted to see how this war between the resistance and the machines will turn out. Though this movie was terrible, I fell for the trap and now I'm stuck on the conveyer belt towards the next squeal, preying things get answered.
